New Jerusalem Fosters Love

We formed a great team with a variety of talents. We were able to have our Church certified as a Foster and Adoptive Friendly Church. We were able to set a up a Foster Closet with all of your wonderful donations from our annual January “Fill the Bag” drive.

Last May, to honor foster care awareness month, we did KIND (Kids in Need of Diapers) Drive where our church members donated over 900 diapers which were donated to Northampton and Lehigh Counties Children and Youth Services.

Our ministry hosted a foster family who shared their very interesting and eye-opening journey through their years of providing a home for numerous kids. See below for information about our new Freezer Meals program!

We have linked with LV Foster Care, a group who lists needs for children and families to assist with meeting those needs. We receive weekly emails to learn if we can help. In August, we donated six bags of school supplies to both county Children and Youth Offices.

Most recently, our Ministry completed training to become a Care Community which Gina Grekula will describe in more detail.

We truly appreciate your ongoing support with this ministry. NJ Fosters Love welcomes any ideas and new members. Please look forward to our upcoming events for 2025:

January - Cleaning Product Supply drive

May - Diaper/Wipe collection

July/August - School Supplies and our Fundraiser, “Dough for Dough” Cooking Class.

It is absolutely true, “Everyone can do Something!”

FREEZER MEAL PROGRAM

We are looking for cooks to help our local foster families.  We will be using our freezer to collect and distribute a frozen meal for two foster families on a monthly basis and also to be a collection site for a new foster family or family in crisis.  The freezer will hold ten meals and as they are donated, we will rotate and restock to always have a meal on hand.

Some suggestions of meals would be baked ziti, lasagna, chicken casseroles, chili, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken potpie, enchiladas, macaroni and cheese.  New Jerusalem will provide the 9x13 pans with lids to be used for the meals.

If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please sign up or reach out to Tina Young. We would like to start offering meals mid-March.
